Why
is WaterEye web-based? |
|
|
|
|
|
WaterEye
is offered as a web-based application because we know
our customers time is valuable. We also know that managing
a water system can be a costly, time consuming job.
By offering WaterEye over the Internet our customers
have real-time accurate data via any computer in the
world with an Internet connection. No more calling the
system operator, or driving to the water system to check
the status. The straight forward color based warning
system tells our customers at a glance if there is a
problem. By delivering system performance information
via the Internet our customers can save time and reduce
the burden or managing a water system. With WaterEye
the emphasis is placed on use and not the ownership
of the application, as it is a subscribed service with
a low monthly fee.

How
does WaterEye work? |
|
|
|
|
|
WaterEye
is completely pre-configured. Installation is simply a
matter of connecting a few wires and turning the system
on. Most subscribers do their own installation - We provide
clear instructions as well as phone support. We are also
quite happy to have one of our people visit your site
for an additional fee.
WaterEye uses system sensors to monitor the water quality
and performance of the water system. Data is collection
time vary from site to site, but data is collected from
on-site instrumentation approximately every 5 to 15
minutes. This data is then sent via the Internet to
our central database. Again, the frequency at which
data is sent to our database varies from site to site
depending on client specifications, but can happen as
often as every few minutes. The straight forward color
based warning system tells customers at-a-glance if
there is a problem. Green indicates that the system
is operating within acceptable ranges, yellow indicates
a potential problem or that system reading are beginning
to be out of acceptable ranges, red indicates a problem
with sensor readings being out of acceptable ranges.
When any sensor reports a reading that is out of acceptable
range an e-mail notification or cell alert is sent to
the system operator/system manager.

What
do the bar graphs mean? |
|
|
|
|
|
The
bar graphs displayed on the customers WaterEye web page
represent an average of the last 4 readings taken from
each particular sensor, and will update it self several
times a day. The bar graphs display the sensor readings
in one of three colors. Green indicates that the system
or sensor is operating within acceptable ranges. If
the system starts to go out of acceptable ranges the
bar graph changes to yellow. If there is a problem with
the system or sensor, readings that are out of acceptable
ranges, the bar graph turns red. This straight forward
coloring scheme allows the user to assess the status
of the water system at-a-glance. By clicking on the
sensor name customers can view the large graphs which
default to display 7 days worth of data. Users can then
drill down to look at the data in a 24 day period or
can "drill out" to look at several weeks worth
of data. These graphs can provide excellent trending
data.

What
is the alert notification system? |
|
|
|
|
|
In
addition to the sensor monitoring graphs, reports and
custom grapher, WaterEye offers a comprehensive e-mail
notification system to keep you up to date on the status
of your system. WaterEye can send alerts via e-mail,
a text message to a cell phone, or text message to a
pager.
The
following are examples of what might trigger an alert
to be sent to you:
- If
any sensor that is being monitored by WaterEye is
out of acceptable ranges or in the "red",
WaterEye will send a system alert notification. Sensor
levels can be set or modified individually by users
through simply logging into their account.
- The
WaterEye system can also be set up to send an alert
if the system stops collecting or sending data to
our central database.
Alert
notifications can be sent to 1 person or 100 people.
To add or delete persons authorized to receive notifications
users simply log into their WaterEye account and update
their information.
